On Saturday, October 1st 100 alumni, former students, and past and former staff gathered to kick off the 150th Anniversary Celebration weekend events. Beside meeting up with old friends and colleagues, many memories were shared, chapel songs sung, door prizes given, and class photos by the decade were taken. A portion of the evening was set aside to recognize former Principal "MR" Ron Thies, much to his surprise. During this recognition, the court in the gymnasium was dedicated to him in honor of his many, many years of teaching, coaching and leading St. Paul Lutheran School. You will notice a banner hung in his honor on the east wall. A permanent plaque will soon be placed. Those in attendance also enjoyed pizza from various favorite restaurants in town including Bill's, Polito's, Club 10 (Mickey Ts), and Toppers. We ended this great meal with Point root beer floats thanks to the Tuchscherer family for their donation of the root beer. You can find pictures at our Facebook page: St. Paul Lutheran School Alumni and Friends or here on our website.
This event was not only a great way to reconnect with many who have walked the halls at St. Paul, but also a way to ignite enthusiasm for this group. A number of those in attendance have offered to help with future events and more are always welcome! If you are an alumni or former student or staff and would like to connect with the Alumni Planning Committee or would like to give contact information updates, please email the office at office@stpaulequips.com or use the form under the "Update Your Contact Information" tab. We look forward to keeping connected via our social media, website, newsletters, and possible yearly events as well as beginning planning for the 75th anniversary of St. Paul Lutheran school in just 8 years! Thank you to the Alumni Committee that got this all started including: Jan Perronto, Dixie Griesbach, Emily Krystowiak, Lea Kiggins, Jim Wegner, and Myra Swiston.
